What is Society?

What is a society? Simply put, a society is a group of people who share culture, territory, and interactions. Another term for society is a community. The word society actually has a Latin etymology. Socius is a Latin noun that means "comrade" and "friend". Societies refer to friendly interactions between members of a particular group. What then is society?

The social contract theory

The social contract is a theory that attempts to explain the reasons why members of society accept and comply with basic rules. It uses public justification as a way to justify why a particular regime deserves public loyalty. This theory is particularly helpful in explaining the structure of democratic society. But it has its flaws. We will be discussing some of its major drawbacks in this article. Let's start with the main one: It is counterfactual.

Relationships with people who are not your friends

The definition of impersonal relationships in society is a matter of interpretation. The meaning of the term depends on the context and the circumstances. Sociologists study how people present themselves daily and find that a high degree of self control is involved in interpersonal interactions. Property (class).

The term property refers to anything over which one legitimately exercises control. Property is granted by society or the state to individuals. The owner of property has the right to sell it or rent it out for profit. Because property is owned in society, it establishes a relationship that allows for both dominance and subordination. Accordingly, property can also be used as a term to refer to an individual or group who owns property.

Prestige (status)

The term prestige is used to describe the reputation that a person enjoys in society. In the past prestige was associated with a family title and was thus tied to family income. Nowadays, prestige is usually tied to occupation and often goes hand-in-hand with power and property. For example college professors and doctors have more prestige than janitors (who are usually lower-middle class).

Taxation

The taxation system saw significant improvement in the first five year of national governance. Social governance received more attention, and taxation integrated in society was a major step forward. To reach this goal, reforming taxation required the establishment of a modern and efficient taxation system as well as deepening the social integration of taxes. Social construction theory

Social constructionism simply describes what society looks like. Social constructionism, in other words, argues that society can be described as a constructed system that values and conventions which requires human actions to sustain itself. It is important to remember that social construction analysis authors often do not mean it the same as Pinker. These analyses may have different philosophical roots, and the authors may be using a different concept of social construction to explain the structure of society.

Alan Turing

Turing was conceived in 1912. His mother was a nurse and his father was a minister. He was an excellent student at maths, but he fell apart after being rejected from Cambridge University. He discovered chess and won several tournaments. He worked as a codebreaker in Britain's Bletchley Park, where he cracked German codes.

He died in 1954.

John McCarthy

McCarthy was conceived in 1928. He studied maths at Princeton University before joining MIT. The LISP programming language was developed there. By 1957 he had created the foundations of modern AI.

He died in 2011.

What does AI look like today?

Artificial intelligence (AI) is an umbrella term for machine learning, natural language processing, robotics, autonomous agents, neural networks, expert systems, etc. It is also called smart machines.

Here's how to make Siri speak when charging.
